THE CN INTERVIEW

The CN Interview with InfoComm's Randy Lemke

16 March, 2006

Randal (Randy) A. Lemke became the Executive Director of InfoComm International in June of 2000. With over 3,600 member companies in 60 countries, InfoComm is the largest and oldest trade association for the AV and information communications industries. Dr. Lemke also serves as chief executive of InfoComm’s charitable foundation and of InfoComm iQ, a for-profit database company. He holds board positions on Integrated Systems Events, LLC, a joint venture European tradeshow company, and on InfoComm Asia PTE, Ltd. a joint venture company in Singapore operating InfoComm’s Asian tradeshows. Dr. Lemke holds advanced degrees from Washington University in St. Louis and an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska.

Conferencing News sat down with Randy and asked a few questions for the upcoming InfoComm 06 show.

Conferencing News: What type of companies are exhibiting at InfoComm 06 exposition in
Orlando?

Randy Lemke: True to its name, InfoComm is the Information Communications marketplace. We are expecting over 750 exhibitors at InfoComm and attendees can experience over 10,000 technology products. They span the spectrum of audiovisual and information communications technology such as projection, display, audio, lighting and staging, digital signage, networking and controls, and certainly, InfoComm is THE showcase for conferencing products. Sony, Tandberg, Polycom, Polyvision and many others will be showcasing their latest conferencing products.

CN: And what about the attendance? Who should go?

RL: Everyone who is buying, managing, creating, and selling AV communications systems for professional use such as boardrooms, command and control centers, and distance learning comes to InfoComm. Over 28,000 technology managers, IT managers, Chief Information Officers, system integrators, architects, presentation and video production professionals, dealers and distributors, independent design consultants, sales and marketing professionals and many more are expected to attend.

CN: Why would conferencing end-user readers of Conferencing News be interested in attending your show and this pavilion?

RL: We have partnered with IMCCA for several years to develop the conferencing track and the Collaborative Conferencing Pavilion being cosponsored by your publication, ConferencingNews.com.

Attendees interested in conferencing will appreciate the breadth of products displayed in the Pavilion – technology solutions utilizing the latest in audio, web, data and videoconferencing products. It is a great place to get ideas on improving your boardroom, using conferencing in new ways, experience High Definition conferencing technology demos, and address questions directly with the manufacturers and integrators.

CN: The world of AV is exploding. What else is being exhibited at InfoComm 06 that our conferencing and collaboration readers might be interested in?

RL: Beyond the exhibition floor, InfoComm offers more than 250 educational sessions. InfoComm’s Institute for Professional Development offers a wide variety of classes on conferencing applications, technology, troubleshooting and trends. We are featuring a Super Tuesday session on Collaborative Conferencing. InfoComm is also featuring seminars from the Interactive Multimedia & Collaborative Conferencing Communications Alliance and the American Telemedicine Association. The first annual Collaborative Conferencing Users Group meeting will take place at InfoComm. If you are interested in conferencing – InfoComm is the place to be!

CN: Thanks, Randy. Good luck with InfoComm 2006. You can be sure as a media partner to this event, Conferencing News will promote its value and encourage end-users of conferencing services to attend. See you in Orlando in June!
