The History of The Future
We checked in with our favorite Crazy Uncle of the teleconferencing industry yesterday and asked him about Cowen & Co. analyst Peter Goldmacher, who was cited in Barron's and reported by Reuters saying that WebEx shares could double in three years. Telespans's Elliot Gold, the self-proclaimed 71% industry-predictions hitter said "check with some of the other analysts, who agree with me, that in the long term, WebEx just can't make it. I WISH they could, but history is history, and they just can't."
History is history? Ahhhh! Eureka! We always suspected Elliot does time-traveling in his spare time, and this confirms our suspicions. All those jet-propulsion friends should have tipped us off. Elliot, we want a ride on that speedy spaceship, if only to find out if the Statue of Liberty really does get buried in the sand! We live so close to her and the fact that we get bossed around by senior monkey editors here at our Manhattan loft headquarters makes us a little unnerved.
Distinguished analysts Goldmacher and Gold. The difference of opinion between them is called a stock price. Adam Smith would be proud.
